BOC-Port of Cebu fetes Top 10 importers for 2021


CEBU CITY – The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Cebu honored its Top 10 importers in 2021 during its 136th founding anniversary Friday, Aug. 26.

The honorees were Filoil Logistics Corp., Seaoil Philippines Inc., Ecossential Foods Corp., Therma Visayas Inc., Steelasia Manufacturing Corp., AD Gothong Manufacturing, Kepco SPC Power Corp., National Grid Corp. of the Philippines, Joyland Industries Corp., and Cebu Energy Development Corp.

The BOC-Port of Cebu also recognized partner government agencies.

They were Cebu Port Authority, Oriental Port and Allied Services Corp., Chamber of Customs Brokers Inc.-Cebu chapter, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coast Guard District-Central Visayas, Naval Forces Central, Philippine Drug Enforcement-Central Visayas, Plant Quarantine Service-Region 7, and National Meat Inspection Service-7.

In his speech, BOC-Cebu District Collector Charlito Martin Mendoza said the Port’s revenue grew by P1.4 billion in 2021 and since January this year, the Port already has P2.9 billion in collection surplus.

“We have intercepted and seized over 300 smuggled shipments over the past three years and resolved 327 seizure cases,” Mendoza said.

Mendoza added that among the achievements of BOC-Cebu in 2020 and 2021 were the acquiring of ISO 900:2015 Certification for the subports of Dumaguete and Mactan.

“Last June, the District Port passed the final external audit for the same Certification, making the Port of Cebu the first Customs collection district in the country to have its main port and all subports ISO-certified,” said Mendoza.
