Tenants of Manokan Country in Bacolod given until end of September to settle P8.6-M debt
BACOLOD CITY – The City Legal Office (CLO) has given tenants of Manokan Country here until end of September to pay their delinquent accounts that have reached P8.6 million.

Seventeen tenants were given final letters Friday, Aug. 26, demanding payment of their balances. The city government discovered last June that their unpaid accounts have reached P8.6 million.
Legal Assistant II April Rose Mae Morada said failure to pay will result in the closure of their business establishments as stated in the notice signed by Atty. Carlos Romeo M. Ting Jr., CLO head.
The notice also said that appropriate legal action will also be taken against stall owners for violating City Ordinance No. 565, Series of 2011.
Stall owners were told to visit the City Treasurer's Office if they have questions regarding their unpaid accounts.
Two stall owners were given final notices because they failed to secure the latest business permits.
The serving of the notices was a collaborative effort led by the CLO, along with the City Treasurer's Office, Permits and Licensing Division, and Socio-Economic Enterprise Unit-Markets. They were assisted by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
Manokan Country is an attraction and has restaurants selling the famous chicken inasal. It is situated in a city-owned property at the Reclamation Area across SM City Bacolod.
City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez had earlier received a public-private partnership (PPP) proposal from SM Prime for the development of Manokan Country.
Benitez said they are open to the idea as long as they can reconcile the desire of this city to preserve the establishment with the plans of the PPP proponent to upgrade the facilities of the Manokan Country.
