Operatives of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement of the Philippine National Police (PNP-IMEG) arrested a police major allegedly while in the act of gambling inside a casino in Pasay City on Saturday night, Aug. 27.
Nabbed was Police Maj. Rolando Isidoro, 51, assigned to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Section of PNP Police Security Protection Group.
IMEG director Police Brig. Gen. Warren de Leon, said the operation stemmed from the report that Isidoro was regularly spotted inside Resorts World Manila Casino.
"It was a law enforcement operation conducted following a report from a concerned citizen that the said police commissioned officer was frequently seen playing slot machines inside the casino," said De Leon.
IMEG operatives were then sent to the casino which resulted in the arrest of Isidoro.
The PNP has already released a memorandum to all police units that prohibits PNP personnel from hanging around or playing inside the casino. This, after some policemen were then tagged in some kidnapping incidents, as well as in the operation of loan sharks in the casinos.
De Leon said Isidoro will be facing charges of violation of Article 231 of the Revised Penal Code, aside from the administrative charges for violating PNP rules.
