Group exhibition pays homage to the ‘Grand Old Man of Philippine Art’

Galerie Joaquin continues its legacy as one of the first Filipino galleries to be internationally recognized. Among its latest projects pays tribute Fernando Amorsolo in “Homage to Amorsolo,” a group exhibition acknowledging the legacy and enduring influence of subsequent generations of visual artists.

Submersing into the exquisite masterworks of the Amorsolo is rudimentary to many contemporary Filipino masters in landscape painting. Even so, no matter what kind of visual artist they are, most of their artworks’ style development results directly or indirectly from Amorsolo’s influence.
“Homage to Amorsolo” features a roster of notable and up-and-coming artists willing to exhibit their theories, techniques, and themes drawn from their understanding and application of Amorsolo’s diverse degrees of execution and intentionality.

The gallery provides a unique retrospective on Amorsolo’s superb talent and artistry, reminding the audience of the “Grand Old Man of Philippine Art’s” enduring relevance, especially in this era of evolving Philippine artistry. Moreover, the artists chosen in the homage have a chance to share their perspectives on how Amorsolo’s triumph and brilliance have impacted their artistic journeys.

The exhibition features the works of Joseph Albao, William Alvarez, Barbara Angeles, Vic Bachoco, Richard Buxani, Aisha Cajade, Joy Calanasan, Janddie Castillo, Nelson Castillo, Astrid Castillo, Brando Cedeño, Joemarie Sanclaria Chua, Jomar Delluba, Patrick Esmao, Francis Evangelista, Patricia Gan, Siefred Guilaran, Ella Hipolito, Ronnie Lim, Denmark Maribojoc, Ambit Mendoza, Almer Moneda, Jerry Morada, Emmanuel Nim, Milmar Onal, Perfecto Palero, Ada Panopio, Averil Paras, Jax Pasimio, Ted Peñaflor, Richard Perez, Aljo Pingol, Jun Rocha, Aner Sebastian, Ralph Villaluz, and Mario Villanueva.

“Homage to Amorsolo” runs until Aug. 31 at Galerie Joaquin BGC. The gallery is located on the Upper Ground Floor, One Bonifacio High Street Mall, 5th Ave. Corner 28th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
