ILOILO CITY – Vice President Sara Duterte vowed Thursday, Aug. 25, that the Office of the Vice President will support the continued progress of Iloilo City, the regional capital of Western Visayas.
"Kaisa kami sa hangarin ninyo sa patuloy na pag-unlad at pagbabago (We are here to support your desire for progress and change),” Duterte, speaking at the Mayor’s Dinner for the 85th Charter Day celebration, said.
“There's no doubt. Iloilo City, you’re on your way to continued progress given the right support for education and enabling business environment,” Duterte added.
For Duterte, “continuity is essential towards stability” as Iloilo City has been strategically positioning itself a one of the great gateways for greater development of agri-eco tourism, industrial hubs, and smart city centers.
The Vice President lauded the leadership of Mayor Jerry Treñas and the cooperation of the private sector for continuing the growth and development of Iloilo City.
“As former of mayor (of Davao City), I cannot overemphasize the secret to the success of the city. That is: The good relationship between the local government unit, the private sector, and the business sector.”
Duterte highlighted the partnership of the government and private sectors to work together for the best interest of the Ilonggos amidst the pandemic.
Aside from Duterte, another guest was former President now Pampanga Rep. Gloria M. Arroyo.
