Taguig hosts Boy Scouts advancement camp with 3,000 participants 


Taguig City is hosting the first Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP)-National Capital Region's Regional Advancement Camp at Naval Station Jose Francisco, Philippine Navy.

The camp, which will run from Aug. 25 to 28, is being participated by 3,000 Boy Scouts from local councils. They will undergo training under the Scoutmasters to earn more proficiency badges for advancement and strengthen camaraderie among brother Scouts.

“Bilang host ngayong taon, nagagalak ang Pamahalaang Lungsod sa paglahok ng mga boy scouts at pinuno ng iba't ibang city and municipal councils sa Metro Manila (As host this year, the city government is glad about the participation of Boy Scouts and heads of different city and municipal councils in Metro Manila),” said Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano who attended the opening of the camp event.

She said the advancement camp aims to revive the Boy Scouts movement after two years due to the pandemic.

“I am proud to be elected as the Camp Master of BSP Taguig Associate Council and for having the opportunity to spearhead this landmark event,” she said.

Scouts were encouraged to participate in all advancement activities and procedures to earn a badge or rank up including lectures, accomplishing paperwork, and undergoing board of review by Scout Leaders.

A grand campfire will be held after the oath-taking and awarding ceremony to cap off the event.

The camp venue has built-in showers, portals, and sleeping quarters.

BSP National President Dale Corvera, BSP Sec. Gen Roger Villa, Philippine Navy-Chief of Naval Staff Commodore Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta, Philippine Navy Vice Admiral Adeluis Bordado, Brigadier Noel Beleran, Colonel Joseph Tobias, and Captain Jonathan Zata, City Councilor Jimmy Labampa, School Division superintendents and council chairpersons of BSP local councils were present at the opening ceremony.
