Muntinlupa mayor, police belie circulating posts on kidnapping incidents
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon and the Muntinlupa police belied messages that have been circulated on social media about the alleged kidnapping incidents in the city.
On Messenger, people have forwarded the message, “Attention Everyone!!! Mag ingat po ang lahat sa pag uwi, maging aware sa paligid as much as possible mag pasundo sa kanino pag uuwe may mga cases na sa Muntinlupa Area. Soldiers: 3 cases of kidnapping, Katarungan: 2 cases of kidnapping, Bayanan Area : 2 cases of kidnapping.” (Attention Everyone!!! Please be aware when you go home, be aware of your surroundings as much as possible ask someone to fetch you, there are already cases in the Muntinlupa Area. Soldiers: 3 cases of kidnapping, Katarungan: 2 cases of kidnapping, Bayanan Area : 2 cases of kidnapping.”

In a Facebook post, Biazon said he immediately asked the Muntinlupa police to investigate the alleged kidnapping incidents, which turned out to be false.
“Agad nating pina-imbestigahan sa PNP-Muntinlupa ang diumano’y kaso ng mga kidnapping dito sa ating lungsod. Ayon sa imbestigasyon ng PNP, WALANG KATOTOHANAN ang mga balitang ito, at WALANG NAIULAT NA KASO NG KIDNAPPING sa mga lugar na binabanggit sa kumakalat na posts at messages. (I immediately asked PNP-Muntinlupa to investigate the alleged kidnapping cases in our city. Based on the investigation of the PNP, the news is false and there is no reported kidnapping case in the areas that were mentioned in the posts and messages that were circulated),” the mayor said.
Biazon reminded the public to be careful when sharing information on social media, especially when it is unverified.
“Iwasan po nating maging sanhi ng pagkalat ng maling impormasyon na nagiging dahilan ng walang basehang pangamba ng ating kapwa Muntinlupeño (Please avoid being the cause of the spread of wrong information which becomes the reason of unfounded fear for personal interest and to sow fear and to cause chaos),” he said.
He added, “Magtiwala po tayo sa ating Pamahalaan at sa mga awtoridad (Please trust our government and authorities).”
Biazon ordered the PNP to increase police visibility in Muntinlupa, and the Public Order and Safety Office and City Security Office to increase roving in the city to ensure the safety of residents.
