LOOK: House execs, Marcos economic managers enjoy quiet time before tedious budget hearings

What did ranking officials of the House of Representatives and the Marcos administration’s economic managers do before the start of the 2023 budget deliberations Friday morning?

From left to right: House Appropriations Chairman Zaldy Co, Speaker Romualdez, Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan, Appropriations Senior Vice Chairperson Stella Quimbo, NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, Deputy Speaker Ralph Recto, Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno and BSP Governor Felipe Medalla (Deputy Speaker Ralph Recto's office)

They all had breakfast together, of course.

A photo shared by the office of Deputy Speaker and Batangas 6th district Rep. Ralph Recto showed the key personalities from the legislative and executive branch "breaking bread" during a breakfast hosted by House Speaker Martin Romualdez on Friday, Aug. 26.

“To guarantee a sustained track for transformation, the President brought a highly qualified and well-prepared economic team,” Romualdez said later that morning in his opening remarks at the start of the tedious budget deliberations.

Members of the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC)--who practically comprise President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s economic team--graced the first day of the deliberations on the 2023 National Expenditure Program (NEP).
