University of Texas announces new curriculum called 'The Taylor Swift Songbook'

Heads up Swifties! Taylor Swift is inspiring another college course once again.Â

The University of Texas in Austin recently announced a new curriculum called "The Taylor Swift Songbook" as part of its English course.Â

Undergraduates from the College of Liberal Arts will be taking this course. "The Taylor Swift Songbook" will be led by English Professor Elizabeth Scala.

Scala shared in a press release that the course will feature some of Taylor's song lyrics alongside traditional western literature.

"Students in the course will study Swift's songs alongside the traditional canon of Western literature: Shakespeare, Keats, and Frost," Scala mentioned.

The curriculum will use Taylor's top hit songs and albums including, "All Too Well (10-minute version), "Red (Taylor's Version), "Lover," "Folklore," and "Evermore."

"They'll be asked to analyze and contextualize common practices and problems across the centuries," Scala added.

The new curriculum is inspired by New York University, which also did a Taylor Swift-inspired course earlier this year.

The students of the University of Texas in Austin under the College of Liberal Arts are graded in this course by having written assignments and debates about Taylor Swift's way of songwriting and literature.
