OWWA distributes P21M calamity aid to OFWs hit by quake in Abra
The Overseas Welfare Workers Administration (OWWA) has distributed P3,000 each to the families of over 7,259 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were affected by the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that hit northern Luzon.
In a statement, OWWA said the recipients were from Ilocos Region and the Cordillera Administrative Region under the Welfare Assistance Program (WAP) Calamity Assistance.

(NRCO) Director Dindi Tan said the WAP Assistance Program is a monetary aid extended to OWWA members, active or non-active, and/or their families, who are not eligible under any of the existing social benefit programs and services of OWWA.
Based on the information sent to Manila Bulletin, the OWWA had already allocated over P21 million to the earthquake victims in Abra alone, since the strong quake shook the region on July 27.
"We have allocated P21 million as aid for Abra sir. Based on the order of Sec. Toots (Ople), all of them have been given away P3,000 each eligible OFW affected by the earthquake,” Tan message to Manila. Bulletin.
Meanwhile, the OWWA-CAR and various municipalities in Mountain Province are already rounding the region to identify other qualified members who have yet to receive financial aid.
