Ice cream theft: Refrigerated van full of ice cream products carnapped in GMA, Cavite
GENERAL MARIANO ALVAREZ, Cavite – A refrigerated van full of ice cream products was stolen from a cold storage facility in Barangay Maderan on Monday, Aug. 22.
Senior Master Sergeant Roy Poblete of GMA Municipal Police Station (MPS) told the Manila Bulletin that the Mitsubishi L300 was parked at the facility compound when it was taken away by an unidentified individual at around 3:30 a.m.
Refrigerated vans are usually loaded with products from 12:00 to 2:00 a.m. and are left parked with the engines running for refrigeration purposes before the vehicles are deployed for delivery at 6:00 a.m.
On Aug. 23, authorities were able to recover the abandoned and empty van at a parking area in Barangay Paciano in Calamba, Laguna.
The cold storage facility has yet to release the official document with the total worth of stolen ice cream products.
GMA MPS is conducting a follow-up operation to find the suspect responsible for violating Republic Act 10883, the New Anti-Carnapping Act.
