Converge is serious in making greater strides in its second conference in the PBA after tapping the services of NBA veteran Quincy Miller for the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The 6-foot-9 center, who was selected in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft, will be coming in for the FiberXers armed with vast experience having played in the NBA with Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons on top of his stints in the top leagues in Europe and Americas.
Miller will be vital in helping the team along with new head coach Aldin Ayo.
"Converge picked Quincy for his athleticism, youth, and competitiveness. We think he will be a terrific fit for the FiberXers," said Converge Team Governor Chito Salud.
"He will have about a month to familiarize himself with Coach Ayo's system and his Filipino teammates before the conference begins. Quincy is looking forward to his first opportunity to play in the PBA before ardent Filipino basketball fans,” he added.
Ayo echoed the same sentiment, expressing confidence that Miller would be a right fit of an import for the young FiberXers crew.
“I've seen him play, and I believe he's going to fit very well into our system in terms of offense. At the end of the day, our goal is to win the championship. With Quincy on board, we will continue to focus on honing the team's competitive spirit and maximizing their capabilities as young players,” said the two-time champion in the collegiate ranks.
Quincy, who arrived in the country on Tuesday, Aug. 22, to join the FiberXers practice, is also thrilled to have his first foray to the PBA
"I'm really excited to play, gain experience in Asian basketball and the PBA, and hopefully just make a statement here," said Miller.
“I'm positive I can bring both versatility and excitement to the team. I make it a point to always have fun out there, and I'm sure my hunger matched with the drive these young guys have will be nothing short of good.”
