The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) suspended the implementation of the number coding in the National Capital Region on Tuesday, Aug. 23, until Wednesday, Aug. 24.
This, after President Marcos suspended government works and classes in Metro Manila and other provinces due to the heavy rains brought by tropical storm "Florita" which already caused widespread flooding in the metropolis.
"In view of the suspension of work and classes by Malacañang and due to heavy rains, the number coding scheme is suspended today (Aug. 23) and tomorrow (Aug. 24)," the MMDA said.
Several local government units in Metro Manila and other provinces already declared suspension of classes as early as Monday, Aug. 22, due to the threats posed by the weather disturbance.
In Metro Manila, the MMDA had monitored flooding in Quezon City and other parts of Metro Manila.
