Florita wreaks havoc in Baggao, Cagayan with massive flooding, leaves three bridges impassable
BAGGAO, Cagayan -- Tropical cyclone Florita (international name: Ma-on) further intensified into a severe tropical storm Tuesday morning, Aug. 23, wreaking havoc in this town with heavy rains and strong winds.
Based on the latest situational report gathered from Narciso Corpuz, head of the Baggao Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Florita has left at least three bridges in Baggao impassable.
These are Bagunot Bridge in San Isidro and the Taytay Bridge and Sippaga Bridge both in Nangalinan.
Zone 7 in San Vicente and Zone 4 in Taytay are also impassable due to massive flooding.
There are reports the power supply is on and off in various barangays.
Here are the breakdown of the evacuees: Taytay, 36 families with 103 individuals (Salinong Multi-Purpose Hall); Bitag Grande, 19 families with 60 individuals (Private Houses); Bagunot, 7 families, 18 individuals (ec-brgy hall and private houses); San Francisco, 5 families, 15 individuals (ec-private houses); Temblique, 1 family, 2 individuals (ec-private house); Barsat East, 96 families, 240 Individuals (ec-brgy hall); Dalla, 14 families 43 individuals (ec-school); Alba, 9 families with 29 individuals (ec-school); C. Versosa, 36 families with 88 individuals (private houses and brgy. Hall); Dabbac, 1 individual; Agaman Sur, 4 families of 9 individuals; Asassi, 5 families of 15 individuals; Nangalinan, 24 families of 75 individuals; Remus, 7 families with 25 individuals and San Isidro: 9 families total of 46 individuals.
Suspension of classes from pre-school to college level (public and private) and suspension of work (private and public offices) will continue as ordered by Provincial Governor Manuel Mamba.
