Sescon new rector of Quiapo Church


Father Rufino Sescon Jr. is the new rector and parish priest of the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene or Quiapo Church in Manila.

Radio Veritas on Monday, August 22, said Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula appointed Sescon to the post based on the circular released by Fr. Isidro Marinay, the chancellor of the archdiocese.

Sescon replaced Msgr. Hernando Coronel.

Appointed as Parochial Vicar of the basilica is Fr. Jonathan Noel Mojica and Msgr. Jose Clemente Ignacio as attached priest.

Recently, Fr. Hans Magdurulang was also assigned to Quiapo Church as an attached priest.

The previous parochial vicar of Quiapo Church Fr. Douglas Badong was assigned to Nuestra Señora de la Soledad de Manila Parish while Fr. Daniel Voltaire Hui was assigned to the Archdiocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora De Guia in Ermita.

Last week, Fr. Jerome Secillano of the Nuestra Senora del Perpetuo Socorro Parish said the reshuffling of priests in the Archdiocese of Manila is expected in November.
