LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Gov. Ramon Guico III has ordered all the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils in this province to prepare as tropical depression “Florita” intensified into a tropical storm (TS) Monday, Aug. 22.
Guico directed all Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils (LDRRMC) and Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee (BDRRMC) chairpersons to activate all local DRRMC emergency operations centers and review all necessary protocols in emergency response preparedness (ERP) plans, disaster management plans, and Covid-19 protocols for the rainy season.
He said that weather updates must be monitored regularly and conduct information education campaign (IECs) regarding preparedness measures, especially in high-risk areas.
Guico also ordered the review of local hazard maps to identify high risk areas and check the availability and capacity of local evacuation centers and alternative evacuation centers.
“Always remember that our duty is to be ready. Let us side by side make our communities safer and more resilient in these trying times.”
No storm signal has been raised in this province as of posting time but rain bands produced by Florita may affect the province.
