156 Special Shari'ah Bar exams passers take oath Aug. 23 at SC

The mass oath taking of the 156 passers of the 2022 Special Shari’ah Bar examinations will be held face-to-face at the Supreme Court (SC) session hall starting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23.

In an announcement, the SC said those who will take their oaths should present a negative antigen test result taken by testing laboratories accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) 24 hours before 2 p.m. on Aug. 23.

It said “no guests shall be allowed to attend the oath taking ceremonies.”

The 2022 Special Shari’ah Bar Examinations were held last March 20 and 22 at the University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman, Quezon City.

The SC had earlier said it had to lower the passing percentage to 70 percent (from 75 percent) “taking into consideration the challenges and circumstances encountered by the examinees under extra-ordinary condition brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Chairperson of the Bar examinations committee is Chairperson Macrina A. Morados, dean of the UP Institute of Islamic Studies.

The top 10 passers are Ambung, Maniri Cayasalam C. (85.6250 percent); Curo, Norhasima S. (85.5250); Laguindab, Aina L. (84.9000); Mortaba, Nur-aima B. (83.9000); Lantud, Norajannah D. (83.4500); Barambangan, Hasmin M. (83.2750); Ameril, Shaibani S. (83.0750); Tawano, Abdul Raheem R. (82.9750); Domadalug-Abdullah, Moumina Sheryne L. (82.4000); and Alioden, Mohammad Muzahim A. (82.1750).

The examiners were Atty. Sha Elijah B. Dumama-Alba (Persons, Family Relations and Property), Counselor Sheikh Luqman Bin Usman Imam (Jurisprudence and Customary Laws ), Atty. Mehol K. Sadain (Procedure in Shari’ah Courts), and Dean Abdulcader Ayo (Succession, Wills/Adjudication and Settlement of Estates).

Dean Morados expressed her gratitude to the SC and to Associate Justice Japar B. Dimaampao “for his unwavering support and guidance all throughout the conduct of the examinations.” Justice Dimaampao served as the chairperson of the 2020 Special Shari’ah Bar Examinations when he was still an associate justice of the Court of Appeals.
