In a Facebook post, Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez said the meeting took place in Malacañang on Wednesday, August 17.

The Palace official shared that boosting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) was one way to spur economic recovery after taking a blow from the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The highly regarded members of the PSAC met with President Marcos the other day and discussed plans to create more jobs," Rodriguez said.

"Ang planong pagpapaigting ng sektor ng MSMEs ang nakikitang paraan upang mapalakas ang ating ekonomiya at makahikayat ng mga investor sa ating bansa, kasabay ng pagpapatibay ng skills ng mga manggagawa upang maging competitive sa kani-kanilang larangan (Strengthening MSMEs is the way to boost our economy and attract investors as we hone the skills of our workers so they can be more competitive in their respective fields)," he added.

Alliance Global Group chief executive officer (CEO) Kevin Tan described the meeting as "successful" and "productive."

In a Facebook post, Tan said the PSAC endorsed other priority measures for President Marcos to help generate more jobs for Filipinos in the coming years. These include:

  • Identifying labor-intensive industry segments
  • Attracting more investors by making it easier to do business
  • Making labor regulations more flexible
  • Building skills for short-term productivity and long-term competitiveness

Joining Marcos' meeting with the PSAC were: Tan, PSAC convenor and Aboitiz Group president Sabin Aboitiz, Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion, JG Summit President & CEO Lance Gokongwei, SM Investments Vice Chairperson Tessie Sy Coson, and Magsaysay Group President & CEO Doris Magsaysay Ho, among many others.

Last week, President Marcos met with PSAC members and approved their recommendations for the country's healthcare solutions.
