New Benguet police chief assumes post


LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Police Col. Damian Olsim assumed his post as acting chief of the Benguet Provincial Police Office Thursday, Aug. 18.

Police Brig. Gen. John Chua, Police Regional Office-Cordillera deputy regional director for administration, presided over the turnover of command ceremony.

Chua warmly welcomed Olsim and congratulated him for accepting his new task and responsibilities.

He expressed confidence that Olsim’s leadership will match the numerous accomplishments of the outgoing provincial police director and will double the efforts in providing quality service for Benguet.

Chua assured Olsim of the full support of the PRO-Cordillera command, most especially in the implementation of the “Malasakit, Kaayusan, Kapayapaan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran” (MKK=K) program of Philippine National Police chief Police Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr.

Olsim expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the men and women of the Benguet police and stated that he will adhere with Azurin’s MKK=K in the implementation of crime prevention and crime solution activities, adding that strengthening police-community relations and social obligations to achieve maximum synergy of efforts is one of his program thrusts.

He assured the men and women of the Benguet police of his leadership’s total commitment towards the attainment of their objectives and urged them to support these.

The event was attended, among others, by the Benguet police command group and staff, the chiefs of police of the 13 municipal police stations, and the commanders of the two provincial mobile forces.

Olsim is a native of Benguet who had held key positions at Police Regional Police Office-Cordillera.
