Kylle Magdangal, son of PBA great Kenneth Duremdes, commits to UST

Kylle Magdangal, the 18-year-old son of MPBL commissioner and PBA great Kenneth Duremdes, is set to join the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers.

Bal David, the new Tigers head coach, made the move and secured the commitment of Magdangal, who suited up for Marina High School in California.

He will be eligible to play in Season 85 since no residency year will be required from non-UAAP high schools.

A report by spin.ph confirmed that Magdangal will be arriving in the country on the 30th as UST assistant coach Rodney Santos joined David in scouting some prospects in the hopes of rebuilding the squad.

" he's going to improve more under coach Bal. Nakikita ko kasi madaming matututunan si Kylle lalo point guard laro niya," Duremdes told Manila Bulletin in an online exchange. "Also, mixed emotions na rin dahil mga former stars sa PBA ang nag-recruit sa anak ko."

Though no average statistics are available, Kylle, alongside his brother Kenji, made heads turn in their stint with the Vikings and had a couple of highlights posted online.

Before joining UST, Magdangal, who stands at 6-foot, was considered by a Division 2 team in the US NCAA.

Meanwhile, the Tigers earlier recruited a formidable force in the paint in Malian center Hinda Mady Dit Mohamed Tounkara.

Tounkara will be eligible to play in UAAP Season 86. He is set to replace big men recruits Gani Stevens and Willie Wilson, who jumped ship to University of the East with just a month spent in UST.
