German wanted in his country arrested in Romblon

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro -- A 53-year old German wanted in his country was arrested by combined police and military operatives in Romblon on Wednesday, Aug. 17.

Brigadier Gen. Sidney S. Hernia, regional director of Police Regional Office MIMAROPA (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) identified the foreigner as Oliver Markus Raoul Janich who was staying as a transient at Tablas Seaview Resort, Barangay Hinag-oman, Ferrol town.

Hernia said Janich has an outstanding warrant issued by a local court in Munich, Germany for a crime called Public Incitement to Commit Criminal Offenses in violation of the German Penal Code.

Joint elements of PRO MIMAROPA Regional Intelligence Division, Fugitive Search Unit of the Bureau of Immigration, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP), Coast Guard Intelligence Group-Southern Tagalog (CGIG-ST), Coast Guard Station Romblon, Naval Intelligence Security Group (NISG-Southern Luzon), Philippine Army-S24IB, Ferrol Municipal Police Station and Romblon Police Provincial Office conducted the operation at about 2:40 p.m. against the wanted German.

Records at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Manila showed that Janich is an undesirable alien and being a fugitive from justice, is a possible risk to public safety and security.

Police Liaison Officer Ulrich Gundlach told his Philippine counterpart through an official communication that Janich’s passport was already revoked by German authorities.

The foreigner will be turned over to the Bureau of Immigration Warden Facility after booking and documentation processes at the BI main Office in Intramuros, Manila.
