Ambulance driver dies of heart attack while driving in Biliran


TACLOBAN CITY – A 55-year-old ambulance driver died after suffering a heart attack while driving in Barangay Calumpang, Naval, Biliran, Thursday, Aug. 18.

The victim was identified as Roderick Cesora, 55, Rural Health Unit driver of Caibiran, Biliran.

Initial investigation revealed that Cesora lost consciousness while driving the ambulance and swerved to the opposite lane in Sitio Lupa, Barangay Calumpang.

The ambulance hit two motorcycles parked in the area, injuring Tyron James Ralar, the driver of one of the motorcycles.

Ariel Verunque, who was sitting in the passenger seat of the ambulance, disclosed that Cesora suddenly became unconscious and lost control of the steering wheel, causing them to crash.

Verunque tried to wake Cesora up but he did not respond.

Rescuers took Cesora was taken to the Biliran Provincial Hospital in Naval where he was declared dead.
