Three drug pushers apprehended in Baguio and Benguet


LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – An overnight anti-illegal drug operation of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera has resulted in the arrest of three alleged drug personalities in Baguio and Benguet on Monday, Aug. 15.

Cordillera regional director Brigadier General Mafelino Bazar identified the suspects as Christian Caluza, 26, an electrician and residing at Outlook Drive, Baguio City; Mia Velasquez, 25, of Camp 7, Kias, Baguio City; and Oliver Ellema, 28, of La Trinidad, Benguet.

Bazar said Caluza was listed as a high value individual and was previously arrested by Itogon Municipal Police Station and has been on probation since 2019.

During the buy-bust operation at Barangay Asin road, the operatives confiscated from his possession one sachet of shabu weighing .5 grams amounting P3,400.

Velasquez, who is listed as street level individual, was arrested at 11 p.m. at Purok 18, Barangay Irisan, Baguio City, after selling one plastic sachet of shabu weighing .5 grams amounting to P3,400.

Personnel of La Trinidad Municipal Station in Benguet recovered 0.1 grams of shabu from the possession of Oliver during the buy-bust operation.

All the suspects are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
