Police dismantle drug den in Cebu City, three drug pushers nabbed

CEBU CITY -- Another drug den here was dismantled by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas.

Arrested during the operation in Barangay Quiot-Pardo on Monday night, Aug. 15, were Helbert Gallendo, 46, Maria Elena Gimena, 40, and Alvin Piala, 48.

Gallendo was the alleged maintainer of the drug den where Gimena and Piala were chanced upon by PDEA 7 agents during the operation, said Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA 7.

Gallendo was arrested shortly after he sold a pack of shabu to a poseur-buyer, said Alcantara.

Confiscated during the operation were 10 grams of shabu in five packs with an estimated value of P68,000, buy-bust money, and various drug-sniffing paraphernalia.

Charges for violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, and 15, Article II of the Republic Act 9165 will be filed against the suspects, Alcantara said.

Alcantara added that it was the 26th drug den in Cebu City that PDEA 7 dismantled this year.

“It was also the third drug den in Quiot-Pardo that was discovered and dismantled,” Alcantara said.
