Dyip bring back Lester Prosper

Lester Prosper is riding the Dyip anew for another PBA tour.

Terrafirma had decided to bring the naturalized Indonesian center back in the fold for the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup in hopes to rebound from a forgettable campaign in the all-Filipino Conference.

Prosper last played with the team, then-named Columbian, during the mid-season conference of the 2019 season where he averaged monster numbers of 33.6 points and 16.9 rebounds on top of 1.7 assists and 1.6 blocks and 1.0 steals in his seven-game run with the Dyip.

“Our kuya is back...we are very happy to have you return,” the Dyip announced through their official Instagram account on Tuesday, Aug. 17.

Terrafirma, however, failed to advance to the playoffs after carding a 3-8 slate during that conference but the stint opened doors for Prosper who have since then make a good account of himself across the region, having stints with San Miguel Beer in the EASL, and becoming part of the Indonesian national team that saw action against Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers.

The 6-foot-10 big man, however, will have a more daunting task of lifting the Dyip from the cellars this time around following a winless run in the Philippine Cup. While there were flashes of brilliance for Terrafirma especially with a couple of solid showing from Juami Tiongson, Joshua Munzon, Andrea Cahilig and Javi Gomez De Liano, the Dyip lost all of their 11 games and finished dead last in the standings.

Another challenge for Prosper is to help Terrafirma also end its five-season playoff dry spell. The Dyip haven’t made it to the playoffs since the 2016 Governor’s Cup.
