SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union –The Ilocos Sur 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) announced Wednesday, August 17, that the Barangay Balidbid section of the Junction Candon-Salcedo-Del Pilar Road in Salcedo, Ilocos Sur is still closed to traffic due to land and rockslides.
The Ilocos Sur 2nd DEO continues to exert efforts together with Ilocos Sur 1st DEO equipment and LGU-Salcedo and Gregorio del Pilar in clearing operations.
DPWH Region 1 said that there is no alternate route since San Emilio-Del Pilar Road is also closed due to intermittent landslides in the area amid simultaneous clearing operations.
The Tagudin-Cervantes Road in Barangay Man-atong, Suyo, Ilocos Sur and Barangay Malaya, Quirino, Ilocos Sur is one lane passable due to land and rockslides caused by heavy rains and the July earthquake.
The Junction Santiago-Banayoyo-Lidlidda-San Emilio-Quirino Road in Barangay Cayos, Quirino is one lane passable due to land and rockslides.
The La Union 2nd DEO said that San Luis Bridge 2 on the Rosario-Pugo Road is passable only for vehicles of up to 10 tons.
Vehicles above 10 tons may take the Manila North Road/Agoo-Baguio City Road and vice versa.
La Union 2nd DEO is monitoring the damaged bridge and has coordinated with LGU Pugo and Rosario, La Union for load limit restriction implementation and traffic control.
The Pangasinan 2nd DEO said Dawel Bridge on the Dagupan-Bonuan-San Fabian Road is passable only for vehicles of up to five tons and those above five tons may take the Pangasinan-La Union Inter Provincial Road (Dagupan-Mangaldan Road Section) and vice versa.
All other national roads and bridges are passable to all types of vehicles.
Travelers are advised to take precautionary measures while traversing affected national roads and bridges.
