ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Zamboanga night market opened on Monday, August 15, ushering in a fiesta-like season leading to this year’s celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.
Mayor John Dalipe led the ceremonial ribbon-cutting in the presence of City Administrator Mario Yanga, City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite, Zamboanga Acting City Director P/Col. Alexander Lorenzo and Task Force Zamboanga chief Col. Randolph Rojas.
More than a hundred stalls and food trucks line up along Rizal Street offering various products to local consumers and visitors.
The street fronting government offices is temporarily closed during the duration of the night market which is expected to run until October 31, the fiesta month.
The night market also serves as a prelude to this year’s grand fiesta activities, culminating in the Fiesta Pilar and Zamboanga Hermosa Festival on October 12.
Mayor Dalipe is inviting residents and visitors to visit the night market organized by the Zamboanga City government to assist local entrepreneurs in line with the opening up of the economy after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The night market will be open from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight.
