More flights added for Visayas, Mindanao destinations

As the travel restrictions further eases, AirAsia Philippines has resumed and added more flights to some popular destinations in the Visayas and Mindanao.

In a statement, AirAsia Philippines said the additional flights are for Caticlan, Cebu, Davao and Cagayan De Oro. It added that additiona flights also resumed for international destinations like Seoul (Incheon) and Kuala Lumpur.

In Cebu, AirAsia Philippines Chief Executive Officer Ricky Isla said the expansion also includes 56 weekly flights to various destinations originating from Cebu.

"The reopening of our Cebu hub signifies AirAsia's commitment to improving connectivity and providing best options among guests not only for flights but also with our partner hotels, tour providers and merchants, all present in our digital, travel and lifestyle platform," said Isla.

Starting Aug. 16, he said passengers departing from Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Terminal 2 can fly to Boracay 7 times weekly, four times weekly to Cagayan De Oro, four times weekly to Davao and three times weekly to Incheon.

The four-times-a-week flight to Puerto Princesa will begin on Sept. 2 while the weekly flight to Kuala Lumpur, which is three times a week, will start on Sept. 21.

"The increase in flight frequency strategically positions AirAsia as a key driver in boosting economic activities in the various provinces which need a springboard to speed up the recovery phase.
