LIST: Where to shop for proudly Philippine-made creations

MaArte at The Pen is back!

Since its inception in Feb. 2009, MaArte has evolved to become an event that highlights Filipino craftsmanship in every art form possible. In 2017, it found its home in The Peninsula Manila.

It’s a two-in-one event where we celebrate the Filipino creatives in the field of fashion, furniture, and accessories at this fundraising bazaar, benefiting the Museum Foundation of the Philippines.

Ongoing this week from Aug. 15 to 27 is a special exhibit on Salvacion Lim Higgins (SLIM) at the lobby of the hotel. She’s a fashion designer who started her career in 1947 until 1990. This year, the Philippine government recognizes Higgins as a National Artist for Fashion Design, so it is apt to showcase her works that date back from 1952 to 1980.

The event is supported by Major Sponsors Ayala Land Premier and BPI, including lecture series under MaArte Talks every 2:00 p.m. by Ayala Land Premier. “We are glad to support an event that promotes Filipino craftsmanship and design, and at the same time provides our clients with special experiences and empowering financial solutions,” said BPI SVP and Unsecured Lending and Cards, Product, and Sales Head Jenelyn Z. Lacerna.
