Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Susan "Toots" Ople warned fixers against hanging around in all their offices to victimize overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who want to go abroad.
“My message is simple like this – do not enter! They (fixers) are not welcome here (at the DMW),” Ople told reporters.
Ople gave this stern warning after several incidents of individuals being caught making transactions inside the DMW, one of them, identified as Vegloure Ragotero, had been allegedly asking P25,000 from OFWs.
Ragotero was collared inside the DMW premises in Mandaluyong City.
“Please don't make money from them (OFWs),” said Ople.
Meanwhile, Ople advised OFWs to transact only to officials and registered employees of the DMW to avoid being victimized by fixers and illegal recruiters. (Jun Marcos Tadios)
