DMW eyes more bilateral talks with Asian countries for OFW deployment

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is focusing on promoting bilateral talks with Asian countries, especially in the Middle East, to maintain strong ties in terms of deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

DMW Undersecretary Hans Leo Cacdac said opening venues for bilateral coordination and communications with Asian host countries can attract foreign employers and dignitaries to accommodate Filipino workers to their workforce.

“I think we have to open the avenues for bilateral coordination and communication with the host countries. We need to find out what the host countries need and what are their specifics and qualifications,” he said.

“I believe in these measures already undertaken by Secretary Toots (Ople) because there will be undersecretary for international cooperation to this matters,” Cacdac added.

Cacdac a former administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) was entrusted to oversee the DMW’s Aksyon Fund, which helped OFWs in distress in various countries.
