Johnny Depp is going back to the movies!

French filmmaker Maïwenn gave a sneak peek of Johnny Depp, 59, playing the controversial King Louis XV for her film "Jeanne du Barry", a historical romance about a royal's concubine.

A few months after winning his defamation trial against Amber Heard, the actor is seen going back to his normal roots, such as playing with his band Hollywood Vampires who also announced their comeback tour this year.

Depp has signed a new contract with Dior to continue his campaign as the face of Dior's men's fragrance Sauvage, where he became an ambassador in 2015.

“Jeanne du Barry” started shooting at the end of July (after the trial wrapped in June) in Paris and the Île-de-France region, using landmarks like the Palace of Versailles as backdrops.

"Jeanne du Barry" follows the story of Jeanne, a young working-class woman who uses her intelligence and allure to climb the social hierarchy.

This will be Depp's first major role after playing the character of W. Eugene Smith in the 2020 film "Minamata", where he acted alongside Akiko Iwase, and Bill Nighy.

Depp will be joined by Benjamin Lavernhe, Pierre Richard, Melvil Poupaud, Noémie Lvovsky, Pascal Greggory and India Hair.
