Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando on Thursday, Aug. 11, vowed to support President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in boosting the country’s food supply towards sustainable security.

Provincial Public Affairs Office (PPAO) chief Katrina Anne B. Balingit said Fernando and the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) led the first flight of the agricultural drone purchased by the Provincial Government of Bulacan at Elizabeth Esguerra’s farm in Brgy. Pinac-pinacan, San Rafael, Bulacan on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

She said the conduct of actual seed spreading using the drone was explained to farmers during an orientation conducted by the PAO. The orientation was also attended by Gov. Fernando, San Rafael Mayor Cholo Violago, Board Member Romeo Castro, Jr., and Barangay Captain Alberto Bautista.

PAO Chief Ma. Gloria Carrillo said the multi-tasking drone is effective, modern, and efficient, and will make the planting of seeds and the spraying of rice fertilizer or pesticides easier.

Carillo said it is also safer to use because it will prevent injury caused by snails and other debris on the farm since the drone equally distributes the seeds.

Fernando said the modern equipment will help farmers become an ally of the government in securing food supply in the country.

The governor tried his hand in driving the mechanical seed transplanter with Violago and Castro to plant rice.

“Makaaasa po ang ating pamahalaang nasyunal sa pangunguna ni PBBM na laging nakasuporta at makikiisa ang Bulacan sa mga programa ng Kagawaran ng Agrikultura,” (The national government can count on Bulacan for support on the programs of the Department of Agriculture),” the governor added.
