Drug syndicate head resisting arrest shot dead in Zamboanga Sibugay Zambuan


ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Authorities shot dead the notorious head of a drug syndicate who allegedly struck the arresting officer with a bolo during a buy-bust operation in RT Lim Municipality, Zamboanga Sibugay on Wednesday, August 10.

P/ Maj. Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-9 Public Information Officer, identified the slain suspect as Roderick Alvarez a.k.a. Nonoy, leader of the Alvarez Drug Group, and 6th in the drug watchlist of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-9 (PDEA-9).

Zamboanga Sibugay drug enforcement personnel were apprehending Alvarez when the suspect allegedly struck the arresting officer several times with a pointed bolo.

This prompted one of the policemen to shoot him.

Authorities seized two sachets of shabu worth P68,000 from Alvarez.

The suspect was declared dead on arrival at the RT Lim Family Hospital.
