Pambansang Dyosa Anne Curtis has just been launched as the new ambassadress of Amazon Prime Video in the Philippines, and she revealed that watching all the streaming movies makes her want to act in front of the cameras again.
Anne told media at the launch of Prime Video in Rockwell that she's slowly getting back into the groove of things after her smooth return to It's Showtime last May and her successful concert Luv Anne last June.
"Am slowly getting there and definitely acting is the next thing I wanna come back to," she declared. "With hosting, na miss ko ang interaction with the madlang people and na miss ko din ang acting in films."
The actress said one series she watched on Prime Video, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, inspired her so much. The show is about a New York housewife who discovers her talent for stand-up comedy.
"Gusto ko tuloy gumawa ng period (show). When you watch the series as an actress, it made me wish na sana makagawa din ako ng period na ganyan. Grabe yung production values... sa location, yung outfits nya sobrang ganda. It made me super inspired, that's why I was thinking na yes, am ready to start acting again," Anne disclosed.
It will be recalled that Anne took a break from showbiz in December 2019. Then she gave birth to her first child, Dahlia Amelie, in March 2020 and spent most of the two-year lockdown in Australia with her husband Erwan, her mom and the rest of the family.
The actress said this was the best time she bonded with Erwan over Prime videos, in between taking care of baby Dahlia. She said that Erwan introduced her to The Boys, another series about superheroes which is based on a comic book. She joked that she reprimanded him when he went to watch Season 2 without her.
Anne said she is most happy about the fact that Prime Video in the Philippines will also focus on delivering local content. She noted that this presents a lot of opportunities for creators, the actors, writers, directors and other professionals in the entertainment industry.
She added that as far as the streaming audience is concerned, users can definitely get their money's worth with "access to a countless variety of top-tier digital content."
"We're known globally as one of the most engaged and enthusiastic cultures when it comes to entertainment. Finally, we Filipino content nerds have a space to engage with exciting movies and shows from Prime Video," Anne noted.
Among the featured movies on Prime Video's Watch list are the Bond movie No Time To Die, the Korean Film Anna, The Good Doctor, and The Boys and The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Also, streaming are exclusive Filipino titles such as Big Night by Jun Lana and How To Love Mr. Heartless starring Diego Loyzaga and Sue Ramirez.
