P1.1-M 'shabu' seized in Calamba buy-bust; 2 suspects arrested

LAGUNA – Authorities arrested two individuals and confiscated suspected methamphetamine or "shabu" worth P1,122,000 in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Looc, Calamba City on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

The Laguna Police Provincial Office (PPO) identified the suspects as Mirsuari D. Darang Jr. a.k.a Carding, 24; and Makikarim R. Sabuyogan a.k.a. Maku, 18.

Darang is among the high-value individuals on the police drug watchlist while Sabuyogan is a street-level.

Calamba City Police Station (CPS) operatives seized 165 grams of suspected shabu during the buy-bust.

Both suspects are currently under the custody of Calamba CPS and are facing drug charges.

“Despite our intensified campaign against illegal drugs ay may mga nahuhuli pa rin tayo na mga drug dealers (we still catch drug dealers). This means they are real entrepreneurs who know the business, customers, competition, money, and survival," Laguna PPO Director Col. Cecilio R. Ison Jr. said in a statement.

Ison encouraged the public to continue coordinating with the authorities to help arrest drug offenders.
