Suspected member of criminal gang arrested in Taguig 


A suspected member of a criminal gang responsible for robbery-holdups in Metro Manila and Bulacan was arrested by the police in Taguig on Sunday, Aug. 7

Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg identified the arrested suspect as John Carlo Marces, 25, a motor mechanic, and a resident of Taguig.

The Taguig police tagged Marces as a suspected member of the Bobby Arao Robbery Group which is allegedly responsible for the series of robbery-holdups in Taguig, Makati, Pasig, Muntinlupa, and Meycauyan, Bulacan.

According to the Taguig police, an information was received from a Barangay Intelligence Network agent regarding the suspect carrying a firearm at Atab’s Motor Shop located along Ganchero Street, Barangay Central Bicutan, Taguig.

Intelligence operatives of the Taguig police, Makati police, Meycauyan police and Regional Intelligence Unit jointly conducted an operation to verify the information.

Upon arrival, they saw the suspect was armed with a .38-caliber revolver, which was loaded with three pieces of live ammunition.

During a search, the police were also able to confiscate from the suspect one hand grenade. He failed to show documents for the firearm and grenade.

Requests for record check from the Firearms and Explosive Division and an examination and safekeeping from the Taguig police were done.

The suspect is under the custody of Taguig police for proper disposition.

“This successful operation is the product of our police and community partnership toward the attainment of a peaceful community,” said Macaraeg.
