Pole vaulter EJ Obiena resumed his winning ways and snagged another bronze medal in the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzow, Poland Saturday.
Obiena cleared the bar at 5.73 meters on his second attempt to finish behind Sweden’s Mondo Duplantis and Norway’s Sondre Guttomorsen in the prestigious tournament that is part of the Wanda Diamond League Meet.
Duplantis continued to show that he’s a force to reckon with and topped the event with a new meet record of 6.10m on his last attempt after his flawless showing in the 5.63m, 5.83, and 6.00m.
Guttomorsen, meanwhile, claimed the silver after prevailing over Obiena via countback after clearing the similar 5.73m mark on his first try.
Both Obiena and Guttomorsen tried 5.83m but failed.
This was Obiena’s ninth podium finish and sixth in the outdoor competition.
Prior to this tournament, Obiena finished with a historic bronze in the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
