Man removing light bulb electrocuted in Mountain Province, dies

SABANGAN, Mountain Province – A 20-year-old man died after he was electrocuted while removing a light bulb in a covered court in Barangay Poblacion here Thursday, August 4.

The Sabangan Municipal Police Station identified the victim as Kenji Bitagcol, shoe caravan coordinator, of Barangay Malinta, Valenzuela City.

Police said Bitagcol climbed a light pole in the covered court at around 1 p.m. to remove an electric bulb used in a shoe caravan but was electrocuted and dropped on the hood of a vehicle parked beside the light pole.

The victim was taken to the Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital in Bauko, this province, by responding local government personnel.

However, he was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Jessica Mae Andulay. Bitagcol died due to fatal arrhythmia secondary to electrocution.
