Cong Johnny impressed with Sandro: 'He commands respect'


Add Surigao del Sur 2nd district Rep. Johnny Pimentel to the growing list of 19th Congress solons who are getting impressed by Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos's work on the House plenary so far.

According to the veteran congressman Pimentel, Marcos--a neophyte House member--has been doing a good job so far, particularly in the latter's task as senior deputy majority leader.

"Yes . He's very much capable to hold that position," said the Mindanaoan.

"I sincerely believe he will become a very good senior deputy majority leader," added Pimentel.

Some sectors have criticized the 28-year-old Marcos's designation to the plum post, being a presidential son.

Several of his 19th Congress colleagues, including Camarines Sur 2nd district Rep. LRay Villafuerte, PBA Party-list Rep. Migs Nograles, and Aklan 2nd district Rep. Teodorico Haresco Jr. have since come out to vouch for Marcos's abilities and competence.

"And more than that he commands respect among the neophyte congressmen. I myself will give my full support to him," Pimentel futher said of the Ilocano.

As senior deputy majority leader, Marcos has been the number one partner-slash-reliever of Majority Leader Mannix Dalipe when it comes to directing the proceedings on the plenary floor.

The House plenary sessions so far have lasted for six to seven hours each. The sessions take place at 2 p.m., every Monday to Wednesday.
