2 men killed in motorcycle crash in Leyte yield guns, ammo


TACLOBAN CITY – Police recovered firearms and ammunition from two men killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday, August 2, in Palo, Leyte.

Police identified the victims as Alejandro Onad, 53, of New Mabuhay, General Santos City, and Jomar Tanaid, 28.

Police disclosed that they were found lying on the ground on the national road in Barangay Arado. They were on board a single motorcycle when they figured in the accident.

Police recovered three empty shells from the scene which prompted them to investigate further.

Lawmen recovered a Glock 21C Austria 45 with a magazine and seven bullets from Tanaid, the motorcycle driver.

Found on Onad were three magazines with 27 live ammunition

Witnesses said that the duo discharged their firearms before police arrived.

Victims were taken to the Leyte Provincial Hospital but were later referred to Eastern Visayas Medical Center.

Onad was declared dead on arrival while Austria died while being treated.
