MRT 3 issues advisory on prohibited items


The management of the Metro Rail Transit 3 issued an advisory Wednesday, August 3, on items that passengers cannot bring in its stations or inside the trains, for security reasons.

The prohibition is in accordance with Office for Transportation Security Memorandum Circular No. 004 series of 2019, as well as the safety rules of the railway system.

The list includes guns, firearms and ammunitions.

These covers Crude Hand Guns (Sumpak) Bolt Gun, Harpoon Gun, Flare Gun, Pellet Gun, Compressed Air Gun, Pistol or Revolver, Sport-related Firearms, Rifle, Replicas and Imitation Firearms, Component of guns and firearms, and Ammunition and its components.

Explosives and incendiary substances are prohibited.

These include Firecrackers and Pyrotechnics of Fireworks or Party Poppers, Blasting Cap, Gun Powder, Grenade, Dynamite, Flares, Magnesium Powder, Smoke-generating canister, Replica/Imitation explosive device, Detonator and Fuse, Ammonium Nitrate, Triacetone Triperoxide and other similar substances.

Bladed, pointed or blunt weapons are also prohibited.

These include Swords, Ice picks, Axe, Spear, Bolos, Knives [e.g. Pen knife, Swiss knife, Diving knife, Card knife, Belt knife, Cock fighting knife, Butterfly knife, Folded knife, Bayonet, Disguised objects with sharp edges, Metal/Plastic Knuckles, Billy Club (Batuta), Chako and Arnis Stick.

Flammable and poisonous liquids, gases and items are banned.

These covers Battery Solutions, Muriatic Acids and other similar acids, Liquid Hydrogen, Organic Peroxides, Sodium Nitrite, and Oxygen Generators (all types of fertilizers & oxidizing substances), Oxygen Difluoride, Mercury, Insecticides or Pesticides or Herbicides, Paint, Thinner, Lacquer, Varnish, Solvents & other similar chemicals, Formalin, Denatured Alcohol, Calcium Carbide, and any type of liquid Aerosols, and Gels which are highly combustible and self-igniting by chemical reaction.

Illegal drugs and substances are likewise in the prohibited items list, as well as domesticated animals not contained in cages, foul-smelling food items, unless they are properly sealed, inflated balloons, opened or improperly sealed drinks, elongated objects more than 5 feet long, bulky objects or luggage more than 2 feet x 2 feet in size, bicycles - unless folded and with wheels not over 20 inches in diameter, as well as gift-wrapped items - unless the passenger opens them for inspection.
