Angono LGU lauds 'Hipon Girl' for inspiring others in Binibining Pilipinas pageant

Angono Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon congratulated her fellow Angono resident, Binibining Pilipinas first runner-up Herlene Nicole Budol

Calderon, in her Facebook post on Aug. 1, said Budol taught residents of Angono to be true to one's self and be proud of it.

She also underscored Budol’s answer to the question by a pageant judge on what transformation that happened to her, to which she replied that being an inspiration to others who also have a dream is her purpose and mission in life.

“Salamat dahil ipinakita mo sa national pageant na may laban at may ibubuga ang isang taga Angono ( Thank you because you showed in the national pageant that an Angono resident has what it takes to win),” Calderon, who also was among the hundreds who personally cheered for Budol during the Araneta Coliseum coronation night, said in her social media post.

Budol, who was also named as Manila Bulletin Readers’ Choice Award winner, also won several special awards during the coronation night held on July 31 at the Big Dome in Quezon City, before being crowned the pageant’s first runner-up.

The Angono beauty queen, who earned the moniker "Hipon Girl" during her stint as a co-host in Willie Revillame’s television show on GMA-7, recently graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management.

She is also set to be officially recognized by the municipal government for her achievements.

Budol turned into online selling and vlogging and acting on GMA television prior to joining the Binibining Pilipinas competition.

She used to worked at the office of the mayor several years ago before being discovered on television.
