The order was made by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica ‘Rafy’ Ortega-David as an utter show of province’s respect for the former president who hailed from Pangasinan.

“Our way of solidarity to the grieving nation. My snappiest salute to you, sir!” said Gov. Ortega-David.

The governor said the country has lost a good man.

“On behalf of the people of La Union, we join the Filipino nation in remembering the 12th President of the Republic, Fidel V. Ramos,” the governor declared.

The young lady governor described FVR as very charming, quick-witted, and a gentleman through and through.

Evangeline Dorao, a former councilor from Asingan, said FVR as president, public servant and military officer was a gentleman, a very good leader, a pride of Asingan, Pangsinan.

A statement from the Ramos family said: “The Ramos family is profoundly saddened to announce the passing of former President Fidel Valdez Ramos.’

“We thank you all for respecting our privacy, as the family takes some time to grieve together.’

“We will announce wake and funeral arrangements in the near future,” said a post on a Facebook page by Melandrew Velasco.
