Ilocos police hail appointment of Azurin as PNP chief

DAGUPAN CITY – Police in the Ilocos region welcomed Monday, August 1, the appointment of Police Lt. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. as the new Philippine National Police (PNP) chief.

Azurin once served as Ilocos region police chief.

“The Pangasinan Provincial Police Office is very proud to have Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. as new chief of the Philippine National Police,” the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office said.

“Personally, as our former regional director, I know his work attitude as firm, hardworking, and with a compassionate heart for the police personnel and the community we serve,” Police Lt. Col. Ferdinand “Bingo” de Asis, former deputy chief, Ilocos Police Community Relations Office, and now Pangasinan Police Provincial Office deputy provincial director for operations.

De Asis noted that during Azurin’s term as regional director, he introduced Kasimbayanan (Kapulisan, Simbahan, at Pamayanan), a program to protect the community with the strong partnership of the police, Church, and the populace from crime or any issue.

Police Col. Ranser Evasco, Nueva Vizcaya police chief, said: “Police Lt. Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. deserves the appointment and the Nueva Vizcaya police welcome him as the new PNP chief. Our all-out support for his plans and programs for the betterment of the peace and order situation in the country and to the PNP organization. We pray for his success and may God bless him always,” Evasco said.

Police Col. Renell Ruga Sabaldica, Cagayan police chief, cited Azurin’s appointment.

“Isang malugod na pagbati sa ating bagong talagang hepe ng Pambansang Pulisya ng Pilipinas na si Police Lt. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. Nais po naming ipaabot ang suporta ng buong puwersa ng pnp Cagayan sa anumang magandang hangarin ninyo para sa ikakabuti ng buong sambayanang Pilipino. Asahan po ninyo kaisa ninyo ang Cagayano cops sa bawat adhikain ng pamahalaan para sa mas ligtas, mas mapayapa, at mas maunlad na bansa (Our warmest greetings to newly appointed PNP chief Police Gen. Azurin is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Makatao” Class of 1989 and the current commander of the Area Police Command-Northern Luzon.
