Another landslide occurred in Taguig City on July 31, nearly two weeks after the first one.
According to the Taguig City government, the “minor landslide” happened at about 3:15 p.m. along Veterans Road in Barangay Western Bicutan.
Authorities are looking at soil erosion as the cause due to successive rains and the earthquake that hit the country on July 27.
The city government said one family was affected by the landslide but no one was injured in the incident.
It said the quick response team was able to immediately respond because of the hazard mapping and assessment done last week by city engineers, city planning, and local building offices.
“Magsasagawa ng panibagong environmental assessment at soil testing ang pamahalaang lungsod sa tulong ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources upang masiguro ang kaligtasan ng komunidad (The city government will conduct a new environmental assessment and soil testing with the help of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to ensure the safety of the community),” the city government said.
The Taguig police and Taguig City Fire Station also responded to the incident. As of this writing, the fire station has not issued a report about it.
Last July 19, a landslide hit an area in Barangay Central Signal Village, Taguig that damaged a “sari-sari” store and injured a storekeeper.
