The Korean drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” which airs on ENA in South Korea and streamed on Netflix, has brought fame to Korean stars Park Eun-bin and Kang Tae-oh.
It started with a nationwide rating in Korea of less than one percent (0.948 percent) and shot to 15.78 percent for episode 9 and 15.15 percent for episode.
In the series, Park Eun-bin plays the role of Woo Young-woo, a lawyer with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who works in a law firm with Lee Joon-ho (Kang Tae-oh).
Episode 10 particularly captured the hearts of viewers because of the first kissing scene between Young-woo and Joon-ho.
Kang Tae-oh became a guest on the Korean radio show “Music Party” where he talked about their kissing scene and the success of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo.”
"We had to film that scene in the hallway of an apartment building late at night, so we had to be super quiet; we had to be careful with our every move,” he said, according to SBS News.
In addition, he said, “On top of that, I had a kissing scene coming up, which makes everything worse. I couldn't be more nervous."
Kang Tae-oh said he talked to Park Eun-bin before they shot the kissing scene.
"I don't know why, but I found myself talking sweetly to Eun Bin on that day; I think the fact that we were about to film a kissing scene together played a big part in it," he said.
According to him, "While Eun Bin acted in our kissing scene, she filled the atmosphere with romantic vibes all around. The kissing scene turned out to be great thanks to Eun Bin."
“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” took the No. 1 spot among non-English shows on Netflix’s weekly Global Top 10 chart for two weeks before settling at No. 2 from July 18 to 24.
"I only realized how popular the series was when a lot of my friends and family members started making comments to me about it. Since then, I could feel how much the viewers love the series and I felt grateful for that," said Kang Tae-oh.
He added, "I'm actually bad at speed reading, but when I received the script for 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo', I just read and read, so fast as well.”
“I felt like those lines melted in my mouth as if I was having an amazing meal. I felt really warm when I read the script. So, I said I wanted to be part of it whether my role was going to be big or not," he said.
