OVP to roll out Davao City’s ‘Mag-Negosyo Ta ‘Day” for Pinoys

Vice President Sara Duterte’s office will expand the delivery of its public assistance by launching the “Mag-Negosyo Ta ‘Day”, a livelihood program that aims to provide inclusive financial empowerment to women and members of the LGBTQ+ sectors.

Speaking in a media briefing on Wednesday, July 27, Office of the Vice President (OVP) spokesman Reynold Munsayac revealed Duterte’s plan to bring to national scale her grassroots entrepreneurship program.

MTD targets to assist women and members of the LGBTQ+ sectors start-up livelihood projects to empower them and enable them to become financially independent.

“This program will definitely stimulate economic activity, generate employment, and spur economic growth,” he said.

The spokesperson added that qualified beneficiaries could be entitled to P20,000 in grant and will undergo Basic Business Management Training (BBMT).

The training will help the beneficiaries venture in livestock, sari-sari stores, goat dispersal, native chicken, and mini-meat processing.

The program takes its roots from Davao City’s MTD that was implemented when the Vice President was city mayor.

Apart from this, the OVP intends to open additional satellite offices to expand the reach of its social services programs to more marginalized communities.

The OVP has satellite offices located in Dagupan, Cebu, Tacloban, Zamboanga, Davao, and Tandag in Surigao del Sur.

Meanwhile, Duterte’s spokesman announced that in less than a month, it has processed claims for medical and burial assistance amounting to P16.5 million and already released the amount of P7.4 million to qualified recipients.

The amounts mentioned were released to beneficiaries both at the OVP headquarters in Quezon City and its six satellite offices in the provinces.
