K-pop artists secured nominations at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, which will be held on Aug. 28 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
BTS, Seventeen, BLACKPINK, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, ITZY, Stray Kids and TWICE have been nominated in different categories this year.
For Best K-pop, the nominees are BTS for “Yet to Come,” Lisa for “Lalisa,” Seventeen for “Hot,” Stray Kids for “Maniac” and TWICE for “The Feels.”
Under the Best Metaverse Performance, Blackpink the Virtual | PUBG and BTS | Minecraft are nominated.
Coldplay and BTS’ “My Universe” is running for Best Visual Effects against Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever,” Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5,” Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow’s “Industry Baby,” Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa’s “Sweetest Pie,” and The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s “Stay.”
BTS’ “Permission to Dance” is nominated for Best Choreography along with Doja Cat’s “Woman,” FKA twigs ft. The Weeknd’s “Tears In The Club,” Harry Styles’ “As It Was,” Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow’s “Industry Baby,” and Normani ft. Cardi B’s “Wild Side.”
For Best New Artist, Seventeen are nominated along with Baby Keem, Dove Cameron, Gayle, Latto and Måneskin.
Seventeen’s “Rock With You” also got nominated for Push Performance of the Year, running against Griff’s “One Night,” Remi Wolf’s “Sexy Villain,” Nessa Barrett’s “I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead,” Mae Muller’s “Better Days,” Gayle’s “abcdefu,” Shenseea’s “R U That,” Omar Apollo’s “Tamagotchi,” Wet Leg’s “Chaise Longue,” Muni Long’s “Baby Boo” and Doechii’s “Persuasive.”
