A woman died after suffering a heart attack while another was rushed to the hospital for a severed hand during a fire that hit a residential area on J.P. Rizal St. in Barangay Cembo, Makati City early Tuesday morning, July 26.
In a report from ABS-CBN, Barangay Kagawad Gary Valdez said that a woman reportedly died after suffering a heart attack during the fire.
"Nung kasagsagan po ng sunog, siguro po eh ninyerbyos gawa nung may sakit daw po sa puso, yun po inatake po sa puso. Nadala naman po sa ospital kaya lang ang problem, dun na po sya nag expire (Because the victim was suffering from a heart ailment, she had a heart attack during the fire. She was immediately brought to the hospital but died there)," Valdez said.
He added that another woman was also wounded after her hand was severed during the fire. She was rushed to the hospital and is now in stable condition.
The barangay kagawad said that the evacuated residents are now staying at the nearest church and are asking for assistance.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that the blaze started at 3:30 a.m. and was declared fire out at 4:00 a.m. A total of 10 houses were damaged in the fire.
Arson investigators are still investigating the cause of the fire.
